IEEE Kazakhstan Section to Officially Launch During Strategic Meetings with IEEE Region 8 Leadership
The IEEE Kazakhstan Section will officially launch during a series of strategic meetings and ceremonial events to be held at Astana IT University in Astana, Kazakhstan, on 12–13 May 2026.
The events will bring together IEEE Region 8 leadership representatives, government and university officials, researchers, students, and industry partners to discuss the future development of IEEE activities in Kazakhstan and Central Asia.
The first event, the General Meeting of IEEE Kazakhstan Section Members with IEEE Region 8 Leadership, will take place on 12 May 2026 at 16:00 at Atameken Space, Astana IT University. The meeting will focus on the strategic priorities and development plans of the newly established IEEE Kazakhstan Section, including opportunities for academic and professional collaboration, member engagement, and future IEEE initiatives in the region.
The second event, the Official Opening Ceremony of the IEEE Kazakhstan Section, will be held on 13 May 2026 at 10:00 in the Assembly Hall of Astana IT University within the framework of the 2026 IEEE Smart Information Systems and Technologies (IEEE SIST 2026) Conference.
The official launch marks an important milestone for the development of the IEEE community in Kazakhstan and reflects the growing interest in strengthening international cooperation in science, engineering, education, and digital technologies across Central Asia.
During the meetings, participants will discuss the role and benefits of IEEE for universities, researchers, students, and industry communities, as well as strategic directions for the future development of the IEEE Kazakhstan Section. The agenda will also include discussions on collaboration opportunities, future conferences and educational activities, and initiatives aimed at strengthening professional and technical communities in the region.
The events will feature the participation of distinguished IEEE Region 8 representatives and international academic leaders, including:
- Dusanka Boskovic — IEEE Region 8 Director; Minister of Science, Higher Education and Youth of Canton Sarajevo; Professor (Bosnia and Herzegovina);
- Ljupco Karadzinov — IEEE Region 8 Secretary; Professor (North Macedonia);
- Andrejs Romanovs — IEEE Region 8 Section Vitality and Development Coordinator; Professor (Latvia).
Their participation highlights the strong international support for the establishment and long-term development of the IEEE Kazakhstan Section.
IEEE Kazakhstan Section members and invited guests are encouraged to participate in the meetings and contribute to discussions on the future of IEEE activities in Kazakhstan and Central Asia.
